| Samenvatting: | At a time of growing concern about the dangers of nuclear proliferation, a world Court advisory ruling on the illegality of nuclear warfare may offer the only realistic chance to create a secure non-discriminatory regime for nuclear non-proliferation and nuclear disarmament alike. For decades large majorities in the General Assembly have declared the use of nuclear weapons a violation of the UN Charter and a crime against humanity. Peace movements too have increasingly sought to combine their moral and political opposition to nuclearism, with attempts to enforce international law. The World Court Project has recently emerged as a new alliance between anti-nuclear nations and (a wide coalition of) citizens groups concerned to defend our civilian rights to immunity from attack or poisoning.  |
