| Samenvatting: | This study, building on the previous work of the BMA on torture, comes to grips with the ethical and practical issues involved, and concludes with a set of specific recommendations. Among the most important of these is the establishment of an international procedure for reviewing cases where doctors are pressured into collusion with torture or maltreatment, and for developing international sanctions against the authorities responsible. Such an initiative would be fully in keeping with the deployment of a governmental "right to intervene", and would be a lasting memorial to the life and work of John Dawson.   |
