Titel:Nuclear Fallacies
Auteur: Robert W. Malcolmson
Samenvatting: The world changed irrevocably after Hiroshima, in ways we are only now beginning to understand. Our perceptions of life have been dramatically altered. The polemics of various factions around the nuclear issue often serve only to obscure further the realities of life in the nuclear age. In a thoughtful and dispassionate reflection on the nuclear issue, Robert Malcolmson identifies a number of myths which society has come to accept: - that the military does not really want nuclear war; - that deterrence is an effective strategy for controlling nuclear confrontation; - that United States nuclear superiority in the Cold War prevented a Soviet takeover of the West. One by one these myths are explored and ultimately discredited. The truth of the nuclear issue emerges as a disturbingly different reality from what Western society believes.
