Titel:Crimes of war
Auteur: Richard A. Falk, Gabriel Kolko, Robert Jay Lifton
Samenvatting: The documents in this book seek to show three things: The erosion of the criminal boundaries and the need to restore their claims upon our activities, the need to make our government sensitive to the criminal boundaries that restrict the exercise of political power. That the nature of the war in Vietnam, the frightful dimensions of American power applied there, the mechanized war of attrition with its "Body counts" assumes mass death, from the air, from artillery shells, in fields, and in prisons. That we must confront the acts that have been committed in our name psychologically (that is, not sweep them under the rug) and ethically (inplacing blame). This involves more than the lieutenants, sergeants, and private soldiers. It involves the military commanders and political leaders, and the amorphous public in America that chooses, and presumably tolerates, such leaders.
